U.S. ARMY ORDNANCE CENTER AND SCHOOL Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland 21005-5201 a. GOVERNMENT QUARTERS: Generally, unaccompanied personnel quarters are available for officers, warrant officers, and enlisted personnel permanently assigned to or on temporary duty (TDY) at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG; and to Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees TDY to APG. Personnel will report to Building 2207, (AUTOVON: 298-5148/5149; commercial: (301) 278-5148/5149; upon arrival for status of housing availability. If quarters are not available, statements of non-availability will be issued. Sufficient billets are available for junior enlisted students. b. OFF-POST HOUSING: Personnel reporting to or stationed at APG will report to the family housing office/housing referral office prior to making any arrangements for renting, leasing or purchasing any off-post housing. When on-post quarters are not available, information on off-post housing is available through the Off-post Housing Referral Office in Building 4603: AUTOVON: 298-4344; Commercial (301) 278-3544 and (301) 272-6774. c. TRANSPORTATION: Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), located south of Baltimore, Maryland, off Baltimore- Washington Expressway (MD Route 295), is located approximately 1 hour (2 hours at peak traffic time) travel time from APG. If you do not have money upon arrival at BWI or need other assistance, Travelers Aid at the USO booth in the main lobby will assist you in contacting APG. (1) Hitchhiking in the state of Maryland is strictly prohibited. (2) Bus transportation is available direct from BWI to APG through Vets Bus Service, on a cash fare basis. The schedule is at the Air Vets desk in the main lobby. (3) Commercial taxis from BWI to APG are available at any time at approximately $45-$55 per person. (4) Baltimore Mass Transit Authority Bus-BWI to bus terminal in Baltimore is available. Bus or commercial taxis are available from Baltimore to APG. (5) Airport limousines are available to Hilton Hotel in Baltimore. Bus or commercial taxis are available to APG. (6) If arrival is in Baltimore via train, travel to APG may be by commercial taxi or by bus. (7) Commercial taxi service is available two blocks east on Route 40 upon arrival at bus terminal in Aberdeen, Maryland. (8) Military bus transportation is available from the train station in Aberdeen to APG, 0930 and 1330 hours Monday through Friday. (9) Radio dispatched taxi service is provided for official use on post from 0800 through 1615 hours Monday through Friday. d. GOVERNMENT DINING FACILITIES: Dining facilities are available to all student personnel daily. e. CLOTHING: The complete basic clothing issue is required and the Battle Dress uniform is the normal prescribed duty uniform for all courses. f. REPORTING: All Advanced Individual Training (AIT) students arriving at APG will report to 61st Ordnance Brigade, Building 5441 AUTOVON: 298-4052/4887; commercial: (301) 278-4052/4887, during and after duty hours. (1) BNCOC students arriving at APG will report to Building 5450 (AUTOVON: 298-4519; commercial: 278-4519) (NCO School of Ordnance) during and after duty hours. (2) ANCOC students arriving at APG will report to Building 4117 during duty hours and Building 4212 after duty hours. (3) Warrant officer candidates arriving at APG will report to Building 5475 (AUTOVON: 298-3793; commercial: 278-3793) during and after duty hours. (4) Student officers arriving at APG will report to Building 4310 during duty hours. After duty hours they will report Building 3071(security officer) (AUTOVON: 298-4344; commercial: (301) 278-4344). (5) Marine Corps students arriving at APG will report to the Marine Corps Administration Detachment, Building 4217 (AUTOVON: 298-5703/3331; commercial: (301) 278-5703/3331). (6) Air Force students arriving at APG will report to the Air Force Detachment, Building 4217 (AUTOVON: 298-3107/2379; commercial: (301) 278-3107/2379). (7) Permanent party personnel arriving at APG will report to Building 3071, Room 107, during duty hours. After duty hours they will report to the HHC 61st Ordnance Brigade, Building 4217 (AUTOVON: 298-4407/5552; commercial: (301) 278-4407/5552). (8) Students should check orders prior to reporting with dependents, privately owned vehicles, or household goods. Failure to do so may result in inconvenience and hardship. For National Guard and Reserve enlisted personnel, orders to active duty will specify that POV and dependents are not authorized at the AIT site. Regular Army AIT students are strongly discouraged from transporting POV to APG due to possible registration, storage, authorization and approval problems. (9) Due to limited availability of family housing in the Aberdeen/ Edgewood area, it is highly recommended that dependents not accompany service member to TDY station. (10) Service members should bring sufficient funds with them to the TDY station to last until the next pay period. Military personnel and finance records should also accompany service member to the TDY station. g.
