Strategic Initiatives Office (SIO)

The Strategic Initiatives Office (SIO) supports AMRDEC&s business development efforts through program development and collaboration with Other Government Agencies (OGAs), primarily within the Homeland Security (HLS) / Homeland Defense communities and the U.S. Department of Energy.

AMRDEC HLS: Homeland Security / Homeland Defense
AMRDEC is committed to supporting our Nation&s Homeland Security and Homeland Defense by leveraging our technologies, capabilities and resources to meet the needs of first responders.  We work closely with the RDECOM Homeland Security Lead and with the 1401 Technology Transfer Program (Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Homeland Defense)) to identify and respond to the research, development and engineering needs of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Combating Terrorism Technology Support Office (CTTSO) and other Government agencies (OGAs).

Among our successes, AMRDEC has developed National Incident Management System (NIMS) immersive training for the Center for Domestic Preparedness, provided geospatial mapping to the 5th Army Tactical Operations Center during hurricanes Katrina and Rita, installed improved helicopter rescue hoists for the Army Air National Guard, and supported a number of NORTHCOM exercises.  View AMRDEC HLS Successespdf
