Center Support

The Center Support Directorate (CSD) provides centralized management of all AMRDEC staff functions to include: funding (direct and reimbursable), personnel administration/management (civilian and military), facilities, intelligence and security, public affairs, information technology, scientific and technology library resources, and various special studies in the business arena.

Mission
The mission of the CSD is to serve as “chief of staff” for the Center. The CSD manages the development and execution of the integrated AMRDEC fiscal plans, programs, and budgets in various funding categories to include: assigned Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDTE) and Operations and Maintenance, Army (OMA) mission accounts, RDTE and OMA reimbursable accounts, Foreign Military Sales, Army Working Capital Fund (AWCF), other DOD and non-DOD customer and overhead accounts. Activities include financial, manpower, and facilities business planning; developing, justifying, and presenting requirements in these areas; and managing and executing approved budgets. The CSD serves as the focal point and staff manager for the Center’s human resource functions, public affairs functions, intelligence and security functions, information technology, and manages the Redstone Scientific Information Center (RSIC) and continuity of operations planning (COOP). All internal and external review and audits are overseen by the CSD along with Management Controls Program. CSD provides special studies in the area of program coordination, cost estimating, management information, and other areas which encompass the functional responsibilities of more than one major organizational element of the AMRDEC. Special studies include input to higher headquarters on such things as the Federal Activities Inventory Reform (FAIR) Act, Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), and Lean Six-Sigma to name a few. The CSD also administers the Scientist and Engineer Career Program, the Army Acquisition Workforce Program, the Performance Awards programs, Safety Program, Physical Security Program, Audio-Visual Support, facilities, construction, maintenance, and renovation projects.
