Facilities

AMRDEC is a large organization with facilities spread across the U.S. Our headquarters is located at Redstone Arsenal (Huntsville, Alabama), where we have laboratories for innovative work on sensors and electronics, propulsion systems, aerodynamic structures, modeling and simulation, lifecycle software development, and technical testing. Our Redstone Scientific Information Center is the largest Department of Defense library specializing in aerospace, aviation, engineering, and missile scientific and technical material. AMRDEC conducts operations in approximately 1.7 million square feet of facilities at Redstone Arsenal with a total investment exceeding $975 million dollars per year. In addition to these assets, AMRDEC and our customers also benefit from additional resources available at Redstone, including test ranges and facilities managed by the Redstone Technical Test Center (RTTC), the FBI’s Hazardous Devices School, and the Redstone Arsenal Airfield.

AMRDEC facilities outside of Alabama include the Joint Research Program Office (JRPO) in Hampton, Virginia; Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) at Ft. Eustis, Virginia; Aeroflightdynamics Directorate (AFDD) at Moffett Field, California; and Aviation Engineering Directorate (AED) Maintenance Engineering Division at Corpus Christi, Texas. The JRPO in Hampton, VA and AFDD at Moffett Field, CA perform aviation Science and Technology (S&T) activities, and AATD provides aviation systems engineering and Safety of Flight (SOF) support. The AED Maintenance Engineering Division at Corpus Christi, TX, provides aviation sustainment engineering support activities.
