Directorates
AMRDEC is divided into functional directorates, led by either an SES or a senior DB-IV (GS-15 equivalent). Some of the directorates work predominately in research while others have a role in all aspects of a systems’ life cycle. Many projects require the support of several directorates working together. Working together they are able to achieve higher levels of efficiency and effectiveness that lead to world-class solutions for our warfighters in the field.
AMRDEC’s Directorates include:
Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) – Transitioning critical technologies that enhance and sustain Army Aviation
Aviation Engineering Directorate (AED) – Responsible for the airworthiness of Army-developed aircraft and matrix support to customers
Aeroflightdynamics Directorate (AFDD) – Pioneering the advancement of knowledge and innovative technology in rotorcraft aeromechanics and human-system integration
Applied Sensors, Guidance, and Electronics Directorate (ASGE) – Provides research, development and engineering services in the areas of sensors, guidance, navigation, and control
Advanced Science and Technology Directorate (ASTD) – Responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of AMRDEC Technology Integration and Advanced Systems Concepts
Applied Technology Initiatives Directorate (ATI) - Responsible for the development and integration of advanced technologies, including experiments, demonstrations, and analyses
Engineering Directorate (ED) – Plans, develops, manages, and conducts AMCOM programs in the areas of total lifecycle system engineering, product assurance, test, and evaluation
Propulsion and Structures Directorate (P&S) - Provides services in structural, propulsion, warhead and system engineering
Software Engineering Directorate (SED) – Provides software engineering support for the acquisition, research, development, and sustainment of weapon systemsSystem Simulation and Development Directorate (SSDD) – Assists in the evaluation and analysis of new weapon systems, provides technical and simulation support
