Brigade Sergeant Major Raymond Fields

Sergeant Major Fields became the 5th Brigade, 2d Region ROTC Sergeant Major on 13 August 2001. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 16, 1958. He entered the Army on 26 September 1977 at Jacksonville, Florida. He holds an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Austin Peay State University.

His previous assignments before coming to 5th Brigade was the G5 SGM of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His other assignments include: C Battery, 1/377th FA, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; A/38th Regimental Battery (MLRS), Camp Stanley, Korea; Readiness Group Atlanta, Atlanta, Georgia; HHB 3/5th FA, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; HHB 2/5th FA, Neu Ulm, Germany; HHB 2/320th FA, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; HHB 2/17th FA, Nurnberg, Germany; B Battery, 1/321th FA, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; C Battery, 8/8th FA, Camp Stanley, Korea; HHB 6/10th FA, Fort Benning, Georgia; B Battery, 3/34th FA, Fort Lewis, Washington; A Battery, 1/38th FA, Camp Stanley, Korea.

Among his awards and decorations are: The Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Commendation Medal with seven Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters; Good Conduct Medal 7th Award; National Defense Service Medal; NCO Development Ribbon with numeral three; Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral five; Humanitarian Service Medal; Air Assault Badge

Sergeant Major Fields’ military education includes: Primary Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, First Sergeants Course, Battle Staff Course, Master Fitness Course, Sergeant Major Fields is currently enrolled in the Non Resident Sergeant Major Academy.

Sergeant Major Fields’ family includes his wife Desiree and three daughters; Tonya, 22 ; Jasmine, 18; and Whitney, 15.
